This is a little story of my December 2010 trip to Thailand, illustrated with some of the photographs I took. I'm not a professional writer, nor a professional traveler, so you might find it a bit rough. However, the trip was very good value and lots of fun, so I thought I would share it. Actually, this trip was organized by Bioprocess Student Society of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai. I was lucky to be selected as one of the 10 members of this Global Outreach Program to Prince of Songkla University, Thailand. The purpose of this trip is to visit the Membrane Research Centre at their university because more or less it will help my final year project.
My flight was on 13th December 2010, after about 1 hour, I reach Hat Yai International Airport. The first destination was Surat Thani which located far away from Hat Yai. It took about 5 hours to reach Surat Thani by van. In order to get through this, I have to be strong physically and mentally. We first met one of the lecturers of Prince of Songkla University, Mr. Wan Chai. My friends and I stayed at his double-storey wooden house. It was a great experience to be part of his family because we learnt their traditional culture and they also cooked their traditional food. During this trip, we went to several places such as Shrimp Genetic Improvement Centre. The center provides research and production facilities for the selective breeding program of the black tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon. I have got an opportunity to walk inside the Biosecure building where they breed the shrimp. I wish to bring the idea of breeding the shrimp to Malaysia.
Not forgotten, we went to the Lantern Festival, Salted Eggs Centre, Samila Beach and The Silk Factory. After spending 4 days at Surat Thani, we return to Hat Yai. Here, we stayed at the hotel and spend 3 days by travelling around Hat Yai. At Hat Yai I learnt how to survive living in other country since there’s no one that we know are there. The most unforgettable place was the Floating Market because the scenery was great. On 19th December 2010, we return to Malaysia. I will never forget this memorable 7 days trip around Thailand. Here are some of the pictures taken.Enjoy!
